Assessment of Individual Needs of Children

This introductory training session will help practitioners understand the importance of assessing the individual needs of children to ensure they receive appropriate support, opportunities, and experiences. The session will explore how observation, communication, partnership working, and reflective practice contribute to identifying children's strengths, needs, interests, and barriers to participation.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose of assessing individual needs

  • Recognise factors that may influence a child's development, wellbeing, and participation

  • Identify effective methods for gathering information about children's needs

  • Understand the importance of working in partnership with families and other professionals

  • Reflect on how assessments can inform inclusive planning and support
